This is probably one of my favorite corners in the back of the secret garden. We have a gate that goes out to the alley. People know I like to repeat architectural elements so that if we do something once we’d like to try and do it again and again just so that you’re constantly having the design reinforced.

So the wood gate here has an emblem on it that’s metal and this medallion matches the gates on the property that’s directly behind me which this client also owns. And that medallion was made into a fence gate and it actually was taken off of a detail that’s on the existing house that it’s over 100 years old. So we have something happening on the house that translates into the gate, it translates to the gates between these two properties, the gate at the alley and the gate at the front.

So you’re constantly getting this sort of connection even though these two buildings couldn’t be more different from one another. You’re just getting this reinforcement that like yeah they are connected somehow.
