I don’t think of it as a checklist in a room. When I’m laying a room out, I’m trying to think about how you are going to experience that room, how does it connect to the rooms on either side of you, what are the visual access points to that room. We ended up with storage on one side, the fireplace in the middle, and a door on the other side because I needed the access to the powder room. We have a tray ceiling in the room that automatically speaks to centering. So, the fireplace went in the middle, and then I wanted to balance that with storage, which happened to work out really well because the fireplace needs logs. You’re thinking about all of those components as you’re composing the room.
