This is the front doors of our building, and what’s nice about them is that when you open them in the back you hear, you know, sort of the koi pond water feature. Here you hear cicadas, you hear birds, because there’s this incredible front lawn garden. And so what was important when we talked about siting this building, we’re very, very far back from the street, very unusual, but we wanted to have two things happen here.

The owner wanted to garden, so Midwest Arbor built us these beautiful, raised planters, and we also wanted to have sort of a formal lawn, and that formal lawn is another tie-in to the very beautiful Georgian building that’s next to us, their primary house. Having this connection indoor-outdoor, when I look this way I see lush gardens, when I look this way I see koi pond, so we have this sort of connection that goes through the building, and these walls and doors and windows almost become transparent, it’s almost like they don’t exist. You’re in this building, it is so peaceful, it’s like you’re outside, except you’re not.
