Design and Build of Community

Design and build of community is very important and we love supporting efforts that help others.

In every single thing we do, we live and work by four core values, one of which is Community Involvement. We are deeply involved in causes within our North Shore community and national causes that improve quality of life, offering them our time, energy, and creativity. Scott Simpson Design + Build supports a long list of non-profits and events throughout the year. Here are a few recent endeavors.

Revolution Workshop

Congratulations to our friends at Revolution Workshop for receiving a $2.5 million grant from Chicago Development to renovate their Garfield Park warehouse as a construction job training center. We are proud of our very own Scott Simpson, Revolution Workshop Co-founder, Vice Chair, and board member, and the rest of the hardworking RW team. We’re thrilled to see their dedication and hard work recognized in such a meaningful way. This grant is a testament to the incredible impact Revolution Workshop has on our community, empowering individuals and fostering innovation in the world of construction. Bernie’s Book Bank

We were proud beverage cart sponsors for the Birdies & Book Charity Golf Classic at Shoreacres in support of the incredible Bernie’s Book Bank organization. Our friend, Lynn, serves on the organization’s board. She was joined by her husband, Jim, as well as Dave and Jojo, whose home we had the pleasure of building! A little about the charity: Bernie’s Book Bank empowers nearly 300,000 Chicagoland children to explore new ideas, gain knowledge, and strengthen reading skills through book ownership.

The Cove School

Scott Simpson Design + Build was a proud corporate sponsor of The Cove School’s “Belong” Benefit. The Cove School provides highly individualized education and life strategies for children with complex learning disabilities and related disorders. Their annual benefit features an auction with an incredible array of prizes from Adele tickets to a trip to Mexico to fine dining experiences, with all proceeds going to support the school and its students.

GBN Architectural Scholarship

SSDB annual distributes scholarships to Glenbrook North graduating seniors who are interested in the Design-Build field. In 2023, there were two recipients. Ryan is interested in architecture and Victoriya is interested in construction management.! Way to go Ryan and Victoriya- go do great things!

Connections

SSDB was a proud sponsor of the Inspire Luncheon, an event benefiting @connections4homeless, an incredible nonprofit serving and catalyzing our community to assist people and families experiencing homelessness, one person at a time. The luncheon’s speakers educated attendees on how zoning and other barriers to affordable housing increases homelessness, and how racial discrimination has infected the housing market. Thank you, Connections, for all you’re doing for our community. If you’d like to get involved with their mission, you can learn more, volunteer, or donate at connect2home.org.
