Hi, my name is TJ Floyd. I’m a project manager here at Scott Simpson Design Build, and we’re in a house here in Highland Park. This is about a 5,600 square foot new build. So, at this stage of construction, the homeowners really start to feel like the architect’s vision is something that they can physically stand in and be in, and it starts to really kind of feel like home. As you can see throughout the house, we have a bunch of these elliptical openings. In this space, they’re made exactly to design ellipse that will be the front door of the house, which is custom made. So, here we are in the dining room, and again, you can see another elliptical opening. And when you look above us, we’ve got a tray ceiling. The homeowner has a special piece of artwork that’s going to rest in this space above us. So, once we get this dry walled, once we get the artwork on site, we’re going to figure out how to hang that, how to get it flush, and how to trim it out so it really looks like it’s a part of the ceiling.
You can see we’re doing a full masonry fireplace. It’s got a herringbone design on the inside. This is going to get painted black just because of the soot. This will be drywalled with a beautiful limestone surround. And then on the outside, we’ll see the same pattern, same design, but with a red brick. And that gives it a little bit more homey feel on the outside. It gives you that rustic feel. And that is going to stay red.
