Welcome back to the Evanston Mansion Renovation Series. Just like the powder room, this is another one of those, “Hey while you’re here, do you think it’d be possible to combine two closets and make a bathroom for this bedroom so we can have another ensuite?” And where there’s a will, there’s a way. As everyone knows, working in an old home, bringing plumbing to a place where there was no plumbing before, quite the challenge. I’m pleased to say we were up for it.
I’m standing now in a guest bathroom. We’ve already installed the tile. Something I’d like to point out, which is not easy to do, especially in remodeling, is that our wood floor and our tile are at the same level.
So, I’m standing in the bathroom that wasn’t always a bathroom. It was a bathroom that was created out of two storage closets.
Again, we’re in this mansard roof, quirky ceiling situation, and so the best way to lay out this room is to put the toilet there. Makes perfect sense.
We have a cabinet that’s going in here, carrara top. We have a beautiful stone backsplash. Then we have a tile detail on the back of it.
We’re working on getting the tile installed in the shower behind me.
But to be able to now say I have three bedrooms on the second floor and they each have their own bathroom was a big win for the owner.
