Welcome back to the Evanston Mansion Renovation Series. Off to the dining room.

This is the room that had crazy angels, cherubs, ivy, all that kind of stuff on the ceiling. And as you can see now, it’s gone. We’re actually painting the crown molding.

As you recall from previous videos, the crown molding that’s here, it’s beautiful, it’s very intricate, but we really felt like it was making a brownish orange stripe around the room.

So, now in this room, everything from the top of the chair rail up is all going to be painted white. Wall color, trim color, ceiling color are all the same color.

We’re always trying to get inspired from what’s here in a historic home and bring that into what we’re doing in terms of remodeling. So, it’s very, very important to us when we find beautiful hardware like this to keep it, to preserve it, to make sure that it’s working. And this door works beautifully. Same thing with the transoms. We want to make sure that we’re always keeping things like that in place.

Go back and watch from the beginning if you’ve missed any episodes of this incredible journey.
