We’re in a house here in Highland Park. This is about a 5,600 square foot new build. Here we are outside of the front porch and the carpenters are currently working on the rafter tails that you can see behind me. They’ve got the jigsaw out, they’ve got their template, hand cut four by eight rafter tails sitting on top of eight by eight columns, which on top of that goes an eight by 12 cedar beam. This porch is serious.

So, what we see that’s really popular nowadays are roll-in showers. This is easy to shuffle into, easy to roll into, easy to bring a walker into. You can take a wheelchair in there. So, as you can see, the floor is currently framed lower in the shower than our subfloor. So, when the tile guys come and do their shower fan, we’ll raise this up so that when we finish it out, they’re nice and flush with each other so that there’s no snagging, tripping, or any hazards for an elderly or a handicapped person getting into the shower.

On the first floor, right off the front entry, we have a library. And in here, it’s full cabinetry all the way around. Aside from over in this window, we have a little bench for homework, emails, whatever it may be. And as you come into the library, we have a couple of salvaged French doors that the homeowner actually found off of Facebook Marketplace. They’re in our storage unit now. We’re sizing up this frame. It’s going to be a pocket door where you open one and they both slide open. It’s going to be beautiful. Stay tuned. This room is going to go under the best transformation you will ever see.
