The kitchen countertops are in. Here at the island the homeowner has requested this special edge. It’s called a DuPont edge. We have this beautiful edge. We have this awesome apron that comes down the front so that when you’re washing your hands you don’t leak all over the cabinet. We had to figure out a way to make these two blend together so, again, Sarah came up with this beautiful detail of just kind of feathering this into the hard 90 degree turn that we’re going to make down the front of the cabinet and we think that it turned out great.

We have the white oak hutch. Custom stain figured out by the client in one of our design meetings at the office. We’ve gone back and forth and this is what we’ve decided on. Different than the rest of the perimeter cabinetry which is another beautiful taupish color. Just kind of gives the kitchen a nice flare, a little bit of contrast. It’s really popular now.

The island is also white oak to match, so, we’ve had custom millwork made for base and crown in these locations that are actually going to match the cabinetry. So, again when all that other stuff goes in, we’ll be able to install the custom millwork that actually matches the cabinetry color that you see here.

Over here we have where the range is going to go. The guys have actually pre-stained the floors here. Once the appliances go in it’s very difficult to get back underneath them, so, we’ve brought it out a little bit. We will do a final sand and stain so we’ll get rid of that hard line and make the part that you actually see fresh and new once the homeowner moves in but for now we wanted to make sure that that space underneath there at least matched the rest of the floor.

We’ve got a dishwasher, steam oven so the plumbing back there is visible through the cabinet that’ll be able to be hooked up by the appliance guys when they come and throw that in. Just a drain line and a water line. Refrigerator space, your water line again so that you can get ice, water, whatever you need from there and then we have a nice little beverage center over here as well that is underneath these awesome pocketing doors that we make custom in a lot of our homes now.

It’s a nice way to hide your coffee maker, your toaster, your panini maker, whatever kind of crazy appliances. So, now that the cabinetry is in we have a few missing details that are stopping us from doing crown but that’ll be what happens next in here. So, the entire room will get crown around here and then in our breakfast room and our family room we’re still waiting on the custom beams from the reclaimed barn material.

All that material is in at the shop we’re still waiting on those to actually be made and delivered.
