Design Chicago Magazine Feature 2023

As a team who loves great design and inspiring stories, we are beyond thrilled to be featured in a recent release of Design Chicago Magazine.

The article tells the story of how our architects, alongside designers from Andrew Howard Designs, modernized an elegant but overly formal Lake Shore Drive high-rise co-op in Chicago to meet the needs of a couple looking for more space as their family grew. The team preserved beautiful details from the 1920s, transformed a butler’s pantry into a custom, spacious kitchen, brought in daring pops of color and reimagined the floor plan for a new powder room, a larger primary bath, more connected family spaces taking full advantage of stunning views of Lake Michigan.

Principal Architect at SSDB, Amy Berka, noted that “The gymnastics we do behind the scenes is exciting for me,” which is evident in the energy and creativity the entire team brought to this whimsical project.
