Lisa Woodruff, Head of Accounting

It was by sheer luck that I landed at Scott Simpson Design + Build. Once my youngest of three was in school and I was ready to be more productive. And I pondered what next. Northbrook, being a small community of awesome humans, answered in the form of an available position at a friend’s neighbor’s friend’s design build firm: SSDB! It was even better that I could utilize my previous training and experience in the financial services industry and learn about something completely new and exciting to me.

After graduating from University of Illinois with a BS in Finance, I worked in various roles at Bank One and Harris Associates, LP, most recently as a Senior Portfolio Associate in Wealth Management. After 14 years, I decided to focus on raising my three small humans.

Assisting the Design-Build Process

My experience in the financial services industry and experience with my own home remodel provides me with a unique perspective. Building a home can be an overwhelming process. The process requires trust between SSD+B and the vital trades as well as the client’s confidence in us. I strive to assist all parties by managing every contract, bid, invoice and myriad notes, from permitting to punch list of each custom home project, keeping a close eye on the budget all along the way, so clients can focus on the thrill of building something beautiful. It’s an honor to be part of a design build firm that brings dreams to life.

Between coordinating household logistics, I live with my wonderful husband and kids and I enjoy paddle boarding, running, tending to my vegetable garden and volunteering with my kids’ schools.
