#4 Scott Simpson Design + Build
Scott Simpson Design + Build is a Chicago area and North Shore architectural and construction firm founded in 1994 by Scott Simpson. Simpson always loved working with his hands, and he founded the company after attending Loyola University and majoring in psychology. The contractor specializes in the construction of new homes; historic renovations; and eco-conscious, green building projects. Over the years they have build over 100 homes in the communities of Chicago, Evanston, Lake Bluff, Northbrook, and Winnetka, among others. SSB was awarded the 2016, 2015, and 2014 Make it Better “Best Green Builder” Award, as well as 10 Historic Preservation Awards. Scott Simpson Design + Build has Illinois’ second ever LEED Platinum Certification and Glenview’s first LEED Gold Certification.
The Scott Simpson team was approached by a client who had plans for a condo remodel that would have been too expensive to execute. With their in-house architects, they were able to devise a more budget- and timeline-friendly approach. The new plan included floor-to-ceiling glass walls, beautiful built-ins, and free flowing transitions from one room to the next. The generous open spaces throughout the layout allow the condo to fill with light and provide stunning views of Lake Michigan.
